RESUMEL’objectif de cette étude est de comparer l’efficacité de la coagulation-floculation en présence d’une étapepréalable d’oxydation au permanganate de potassium à celle en absence de toute oxydation, dans des milieux deminéralisation variable et pour des paramètres réactionnels contrôlés (doses de réactifs, pH, temps decontact,…).La préoxydation au KMnO4 des solutions synthétiques de substances humiques induit une diminution desrendements de leur floculation. La variation de la minéralisation des milieux de dilution influe légèrement sur lesrendements d’élimination. Le remplacement du chlore par le permanganate de potassium en préoxydation induitune nette diminution des consommations en chlore finales.Les résultats de l’application du procédé combiné préoxydation au KMnO4-floculation à une eau de surface sonten accord avec ceux obtenus dans le cas des solutions synthétiques des substances humiques. The aim of this present research is to study the impact of an oxidative treatment on the removal of humicsubstances by flocculation. Preoxydation by permanganate of potassium is implied to synthetic solutions ofhumic substances. It leads to a reduction of efficiency of the flocculation. The occurrence of inorganiccompounds in waters slightly improved the efficiency of coagulation-flocculation by alum. The substitution ofchlorine by the permanganate of potassium in preoxydation leads to a clear decrease of final chlorineconsumption. Similar results are obtained when we carried out experiments of combination preoxydation withpermanganate of potassium-flocculation on Algerian surface water.
